Alright, so I’ve been reading about why cultural appropriation is bad, and while I certainly understand that sarcastically wearing a head dress is offensive, where is the line with this? Having a decent job in the us was once only the place of white men, should they be offended that that has been “culturally appropriated”? furthermore, what can the effect be of saying, only black people can have dreads, only members of the Mohawk tribe can shave the sides of their head, only native Indians or Africans can have gages if not to drive the races further apart? This anti-cultural appropriation movement seems to be constantly bordering on pro segregation. Keep in mind that Denmark saved millions of Jews by having all their people wear a Star of David. Cultures are constantly mixing and influencing each other and theres nothing wrong with that. It’s what keeps solidarity amongst all people’s and I can’t see any positive effect coming out of racially marking people by their jewelry, clothes and hairstyles.
